Artist Talk Rosa Barba

Museum Haus Konstruktiv | Zurich Art Prize 2026: Rosa Barba | curated by Sabine Schaschl und Evelyne Bucher | Video: schwarzpictures.com | 4.6.2026–30.8.2026

As part of the exhibition "Thick Harmonies", Sabine Schaschl, Director of Museum Haus Konstruktiv, talks to the 19th Zurich Art Prize winner Rosa Barba.

The interview took place on 3 June 2026 in the exhibition space of Museum Haus Konstruktiv.

Rosa Barba’s artwork navigates the intersection of film, sculpture and installation, while consciously keeping the boundaries between them fluid. Her output is characterised by a fusion of art and science, which manifests itself in her film works, as well as in her engagement with landscapes, technological infrastructures and the ecologies of the future. Barba frequently turns her attention to places shaped by history, by political tensions or by fascinating physical processes – spaces in which the past, the present and the imagination overlap. At Museum Haus Konstruktiv, Barba transforms the various exhibition spaces into a multilayered setting that comprises sculptures, films, haunting soundtracks and the sound of projectors. Differently exposed strips of film, projected with light, become lines in the space, making noises or mechanically looping. The divides between image, object and sound are thus dissolved.

The Zurich Art Prize is part of Zurich Insurance Company Ltd’s commitment to culture.
